About Adaptas Solutions
Adaptas began its journey in 1983 under the name Detector Technology, Inc. (DeTech), specializing in the production of electron multipliers for mass spectrometry. The company soon recognized the potential to expand its business and established a glass division in 1988, which later became known as Pegasus Glassworks.
To better serve its customers’ needs and enable further growth, DeTech decided in 1996 to split the two divisions into separate companies: DeTech continued with the production of electron multipliers, while Pegasus Glassworks specialized in glass products.
SIS & ETP
With growing expertise in mass spectrometry and glass processing, Adaptas expanded into contract manufacturing, laboratory automation, and liquid handling. In 2018, the company secured a significant investment from Ampersand Capital Partners, a private equity firm specializing in healthcare.
In the same year, Adaptas also acquired Scientific Instrument Services (SIS) and ETP Ion Detect, positioning the company as a leader in the laboratory equipment market. In 2019, the combined company was rebranded as Adaptas to reflect the new capabilities and unified strength of the companies.
